What you'll study

The major comprises 64 credit hours and takes a holistic approach to biblical and ministry studies. Core emphases include:

• The Bible: methods and tools of interpretation and instruction in Old and New Testament teachings.
• Theology and history: foundations of Christian beliefs, Christian history, and applying tradition to contemporary culture.
• Ministry and mission: themes and skills for leading in ministry, including cultural, anthropological and sociological aspects and communication in multicultural settings.
• Spiritual formation: historical perspectives on Christian spirituality and practices for teaching and living the gospel.

Example coursework listed by ACU includes Christian Leadership; Christianity in Culture; Introduction to Biblical Interpretation; Mission as Spiritual Formation; and Prophets of Israel. The program culminates in a multipart capstone project integrating ministry practice, observation, and spiritual formation.

Entry requirements

Applicants must submit official high school transcripts with a minimum 2.5 GPA and/or college transcripts with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Admission requires completing the online program application and paying a non-refundable processing fee. ACT or SAT scores are not required. To graduate students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and complete at least 33 advanced hours.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for vocational ministry and service-oriented roles in churches and faith-based organizations. ACU identifies potential job pathways such as youth pastor; disciple pastor; associate or administrative pastor; group leader; parachurch professional; and Christian nonprofit professional.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

ACU’s Locked-In Tuition program guarantees the same undergraduate tuition rate for the length of the degree. Published per-credit cost for the program is $395 per hour, and students pay a $310 resource fee per term; students should contact ACU for details on scholarships, institutional aid, and external funding options.
