What you'll study

Core and elective work enables concentration on ministry areas and theological foundations. Example coursework named by the program includes:

• Biblical Exegesis
• History of Christianity
• Systematic Theology
• Foundations of the Theology of Ministry

The program allows many elective hours so students can personalize the degree to match particular ministry passions such as youth and family, children’s ministry, worship, preaching, spiritual formation or church leadership.

Entry requirements

• Completed program application with non-refundable processing fee.
• Official transcripts showing a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalent).
• Approximately a cumulative undergraduate B average in the area of focus or a related field and evidence of an overall productive GPA.
• Two letters of recommendation.
• A reflective essay, 3–5 pages, typed and double spaced.
• Completion of an academic writing assessment.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for competent leadership in ministry roles such as youth and family ministry, children’s ministry and education ministry. The curriculum is also positioned to deepen theological knowledge for related careers outside congregational ministry, for example in education or social service. Program learning outcomes include demonstrating a basic understanding of Christian history, showing knowledge and skills in a chosen ministerial practice, and integrating theological/theoretical concepts with real ministry situations.
