Programme overview

The Coordinated Dietetics and Nutrition Major is a 5-year, integrated B.S./M.S. track that combines classroom instruction with supervised practice so graduates are eligible to sit for the national RDN credentialing exam. The program is ACEND-accredited (permanent accreditation granted January 2022) and culminates in a Master’s Research Project.

What you'll study

Instruction begins with the university general education requirements and science-based prerequisite courses during the first two years, then advances to dietetics- and nutrition-specific undergraduate and graduate coursework. The curriculum includes completion of required supervised practice hours embedded in coursework and a semester of full-time internship placements in the greater Utica area. Career prospects

Graduates who complete the ACEND-accredited coordinated B.S./M.S. and the 1,000 supervised practice hours required by ACEND are eligible to take the CDR credentialing exam to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). The program notes that most states also require licensure or certification to practice. The non-accredited 4-year B.S. track (separate) can lead to work in fitness or public health or serve as preparation for advanced degrees in nutrition, public health, nursing, or related health professions.
