What you'll study

The curriculum applies undergraduate PE and health education content to teacher qualification and includes advanced experiential learning in health and physical education. Students learn to plan and implement developmentally appropriate, inclusive lessons and activities that support physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being. The program also covers creating, applying, and analyzing assessments of student learning and using assessment results and reflection to refine instructional practice. The program requires moderate physical activity (running, jumping, climbing, tumbling) as part of training.

The program is designed primarily for students moving from Utica University’s undergraduate Health Education & Physical Education (B.S.) program; however, individuals who already hold a degree from another institution may also be eligible for admission.
