An accelerated 3+1 program that combines a BBA in Human Resources Management with an MBA in Human Resource Management, delivered fully online. Suited to students who want a fast, practice-oriented route into HR leadership roles and prefer online or live-virtual study formats.

Programme overview

The Baker College 3+1 BBA/MBA in Human Resource Management is an IACBE-accredited, 135-credit-hour pathway that lets students complete a bachelor's and master’s-level HR degree in approximately four years. Core HR coursework is delivered through Baker Online and Online Live; the structure uses three years of undergraduate study followed by one year of MBA-level HR study. The MBA curriculum has renewed alignment with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.

What you'll study

The curriculum blends undergraduate and graduate HR topics. Sample and named courses from the programme include:

  • HRM 4510 Employee and Labor Relations — covers organizational culture and retention, employee motivation and rewards, engagement, conflict management and dispute resolution, discipline and terminations, union/management relations, collective bargaining, negotiation, grievance management and unfair labor practices.
  • HRM 4910 Strategic Human Resource Management — the program capstone; develops organizational analysis and strategic thinking to align HRM processes with managerial strategy through case study work.
  • BUS 6150 Human Behavior Management of Organizations — examines individuals, groups and organizations, alignment of people, leadership and management techniques, and the impact of technology, globalism and virtual teaming on work.

Entry requirements

Students intending to move into the MBA portion submit applications to the Center for Graduate Studies after completing 60 credits toward the bachelor in HRM. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission into the MBA program. For full admission criteria and academic planning (including the option to select a different MBA major), contact the Enrollment Department or the Center for Graduate Studies.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for multiple HR roles such as human resources manager, training and development manager, HR generalist, HR coordinator and employee relations manager. The program emphasizes skills in recruiting and hiring coordination, compensation guidelines, turnover reduction, and designing training and development to improve employee skills and productivity.
