What you'll study

The 30-credit nursing major focuses on topics that expand clinical judgment, population health and leadership. Sample courses listed in the curriculum include:

• NUR 3050 Evidence Based Practice for the BSN — nursing theories, the role of research in nursing practice, critical appraisal of research and ethical considerations in research.
• NUR 4450 Community Health Nursing — organization and core functions of community health nursing, care for target populations and vulnerable subgroups, public policy and emergency response roles.
• NUR 4550 Nursing Leadership and Management — development of professional nursing role, leadership and management of human and financial resources, communication, leadership styles and ethical/professional standards.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold an unencumbered RN license in the United States (including DC and US territories) or Canada, or be an active ADN student in a Baker College‑affiliated nursing program. Canadian RNs complete practicum experiences under the supervision of a baccalaureate nurse licensed in Canada. License verification is required before the first term and must remain in good standing throughout the program.

Career prospects

The BSN prepares RNs for broader clinical responsibilities and non‑bedside roles that emphasize leadership, quality improvement and population health.
