What you'll study

The degree requires 30 hours of general education, 60 hours of business coursework and 30 hours of electives (with 15 of those electives designated as business electives). Sample courses and subject areas include:

• Introduction to Business (MGT 1010) — an overview of business functions and the external and internal environments affecting organizations.
• Organizational Behavior and Management (MGT 2020) — study of organizational culture, group dynamics, motivation, conflict resolution, ethics and leadership processes.
• Business Analytics (BUS 3050) — fundamentals of data analysis for business decision making, data integrity, business intelligence tools and measurement, analysis, interpretation and presentation (MAIP).
• Other curriculum topics: accounting, finance, marketing, management, strategic planning, business law and ethics, economics, human resource management and supply-chain/operations topics.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) to apply. Admission requires a completed application form and official transcripts from previous educational institutions; Baker College evaluates transfer credits from accredited institutions to determine applicability.

Career prospects

The program is intended to build analytical, strategic and leadership competencies useful across sectors. Graduates commonly pursue roles such as business analyst, marketing manager, financial advisor, human resources manager, operations manager, sales manager, project manager, accountant, management consultant, supply chain manager, retail manager or may launch their own small business.
