The program requires 21 units of core communication and related courses plus 21 units of electives chosen from communication, arts and selected business and philosophy classes.

Hands-on opportunities include broadcasting, video editing and public presentations through campus and community partnerships, plus internships in social media, marketing, tutoring, public relations, business, writing, non-profits, churches and mentoring.

Entry requirements

Apply online or by mail and submit official transcripts to the Office of the Registrar. Applicants are advised to complete recommended high-school courses: four years college-prep English; three years college-prep mathematics; two years social studies; one year laboratory science; one year performing art; and three years of the same foreign language with a C- or better. FPU reports accepted students typically have GPAs around 3.2–3.6; speak with an admissions counselor for individual eligibility. Complete the FAFSA and add FPU using FAFSA code 001253. The university provides specific processes for re-application, re-admission and non-matriculated or audit status—contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission for details.

Career prospects

The curriculum prepares graduates for communication roles across public, private and religious sectors and for further graduate study. Practical training and internship placements target careers in social media, marketing, public relations, journalism, video and film production, organizational communication, nonprofit communications and related fields where multimodal message production and media literacy are required.

FPU encourages applicants to complete the FAFSA (FPU FAFSA code 001253) to determine federal aid eligibility. Incoming students may also explore institutional scholarships and the university’s Four-Year Graduation Guarantee, which commits to providing required courses at no additional tuition or fees if degree completion in four years is prevented by course availability when the student has met their responsibilities.
