The BSc in Computer Science is an undergraduate programme with a minimum duration of four years. It provides a foundation in core areas of computer science and computer engineering while developing skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, independent learning and teamwork. The curriculum includes general education, main core courses and electives, and requires a final engineering or research project.
Students must complete 135 credits across a minimum of nine and a maximum of sixteen semesters. The credit breakdown is 52 credit hours of general education, 65 credit hours of main courses and 18 credit hours of electives. Coursework covers foundational topics in computing and engineering with opportunities to take specialised courses in areas of interest. Graduates are expected to be able to design and implement computing solutions, evaluate implemented systems, conduct applied research, and continue self-directed learning in specialised computing areas. The programme emphasises reading technical sources in Persian and English and communicating technical ideas clearly in written and oral forms.
Admission is limited: up to 25 qualified high school graduates are admitted each year. Additional places may be available for graduates of the Associate Degree in Computer Technology or the BIHE one-year General Studies programme. Applicants must meet minimum high school examination scores with greater emphasis on mathematics and physical sciences. If eligible applicants exceed capacity, a special entrance examination in mathematics and physics is used to decide admissions.
The programme prepares students for professional careers in computer-related fields, for research and academic paths, and for applying computing methods to societal problems. Graduates should be able to enter specialised technical roles, pursue further academic study or engage in interdisciplinary projects that apply computing to other domains.
