What you'll study

Doctoral projects address scholarly questions and lead to a traditional dissertation. Possible subject areas named by the programme include historical musicology, music theory and church music studies, jazz and popular music research, aesthetics of music, ethnomusicology, theatre studies/dramaturgy, music education/instrumental and vocal pedagogy, and sound and music computing. Each candidate’s research plan is developed under the guidance of an appointed supervisory team.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a relevant Master’s degree or diploma as specified in the curriculum and pass the programme’s admission procedure, which includes an interview with the doctoral committee. Doctoral students are supervised by a team of three supervisors drawn from ZHdK and/or KUG.
