What you'll study

Students complete core coursework in music research, history, and theory, then follow one of two concentrations. The Musicology concentration focuses on music history, literature, and analysis while developing advanced research and writing skills. The Worship concentration combines theological study with musical training, covering worship planning, leadership, congregational music, and music’s role in spiritual formation. The programme concludes with a culminating requirement — thesis, recital, or capstone project — appropriate to the chosen track.

Entry requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in music or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Official transcripts from all prior college or university coursework.
• Submission of an academic writing sample or a relevant portfolio, depending on the chosen concentration.
• Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references.
• Meeting the graduate programme’s minimum GPA/academic standards.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for positions such as worship pastor or music minister, church music director, musicologist or music researcher, faculty or instructor at Christian colleges, contributors to theological or music publishing, or further doctoral study (Ph.D., D.Min., etc.).
