What you'll study

Study typically progresses from intermediate and advanced language courses into electives that explore Spanish and Latin American literature, culture, linguistics, and applied Spanish for specific professions. Students work on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills; analyze texts and media; and may engage in community-based language practice or study abroad to reinforce classroom learning.

Entry requirements

Admissions generally require a high-school diploma or equivalent and fulfillment of university admissions criteria. Incoming students with prior Spanish study may place into higher-level language courses after placement testing or review of transcripts. Transfer students follow standard transfer-credit policies and must consult an advisor to map previous coursework into the major.
