1. Types of Scholarships Available
The Dalai Lama Trust offers two categories of scholarships:
- Undergraduate Scholarships
- Total Seats: 100
- For undergraduate or diploma programs of minimum 3 years duration
- Postgraduate Scholarships
- Total Seats: 5
- Only for students who previously received the Dalai Lama Trust Undergraduate Scholarship
2. Funding Coverage
- Fully funded tuition and academic expenses
- Disbursed directly to the student’s personal bank account (preferably State Bank of India)
Eligible Nationalities
Open to international students from Tibet.
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Scholarship Criteria (must meet at least one):
A. Academically Promising Students:
Students who have consistently performed well but could not score high in Class XII board exams. A school recommendation (Form B) is required.
B. Morally Upright Students:
Students known for honesty, sincerity, and good conduct. Also requires a school recommendation (Form B).
C. Students from Vulnerable Backgrounds:
Orphaned, semi-orphaned, or students from destitute families. Must be verified and recommended by the Tibetan Settlement Officer (Form A).
Additional Conditions:
- Must possess a valid Green Book (GB) with contributions paid up to March 31, 2024
- Must have a valid Registration Certificate (RC)
- Those from Nepal, Bhutan, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and Gangtok must have settlement verification
- Applicants should not be receiving any other scholarship
- Only degree courses are supported (no vocational/certificate programs)
Postgraduate Eligibility:
- Must have received the Dalai Lama Trust Undergraduate Scholarship
- Must submit undergraduate mark sheets and provisional or final degree certificates
- Internship certificates (if applicable) are recommended
