What you'll study

The programme combines conservatory-style studio work with scholarly seminar study. Core components include advanced acting and movement technique, voice and speech, scene study, and ensemble practice; directing workshops and rehearsal methodology; playwriting and dramaturgy seminars; collaborative devising and new-play development; and courses in contemporary theatre theory and history.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Admission is competitive and requires evidence of creative promise and relevant training or experience.

• Application materials — academic transcripts, a personal statement outlining artistic aims, and a current CV or résumé detailing relevant experience.
• Creative submission — work samples appropriate to the applicant’s focus: audition pieces or performance reels for actors; sample plays or writing excerpts for playwrights; directing reels or documentation of productions for directors; or portfolio materials for designers and technicians.
• References — academic and/or professional references that can speak to the applicant’s creative potential and preparation.
• Interview/audition — shortlisted candidates are normally invited to attend an in-person or remote interview and/or audition to assess fit for the studio training.
• English language proficiency — applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency through recognised tests or equivalent credentials.
