What you'll study

This programme integrates core business disciplines with technical and analytical information systems training. You will study a mix of foundational business subjects—accounting, finance, marketing, operations—and MIS-specific topics such as database design, systems analysis and design, programming fundamentals, networks and security, enterprise resource planning (ERP), IT project management and business intelligence.

• Core business modules: introductory accounting, microeconomics, organisational behaviour, operations management and business law to provide context for IT decisions.
• Technical MIS modules: relational databases and SQL, object-oriented programming or scripting, web application development, computer networks, and fundamentals of cybersecurity.
• Analytical and data modules: statistics, data analytics, data visualisation, predictive analytics and decision support systems.
• Systems and strategy: systems analysis and design, enterprise systems/ERP, IT strategy and governance, information systems auditing and risk management.
• Professional practice: project management, consulting practicum or capstone project, ethics and legal issues in information systems, plus opportunities for internships and cooperative placements.

Most students complete a capstone or practicum that applies technical and business skills to a real organisational problem, and may choose electives or a minor to deepen expertise in areas such as cybersecurity, analytics, supply chain systems or entrepreneurship.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a secondary school completion credential equivalent to a US high school diploma with a competitive academic record. Typical preparation includes strong performance in mathematics; prior study in computer science or information technology is advantageous but not always required. Admissions review will consider academic transcripts, personal statements, and any required test scores where applicable.

Transfer applicants should provide college transcripts and a record of completed business and quantitative coursework. International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through accepted tests or other institutional requirements.
