What you'll study

This programme builds a strong foundation in pure and applied mathematics while emphasising numerical methods, scientific computing and algorithmic problem solving. Core coursework typically includes multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, real analysis and abstract algebra. Computationally focused modules cover numerical analysis, scientific computing, numerical linear algebra, mathematical modelling and optimisation, together with courses in programming for mathematicians using languages and tools such as Python, MATLAB or similar.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent with a strong foundation in mathematics. Typical preparation includes courses in algebra, geometry, precalculus and ideally some exposure to calculus. Admissions will consider overall academic record, recommendation(s), a personal statement and any relevant extracurricular or technical experience such as programming or participation in math competitions.

For international applicants, proof of English language proficiency is required when applicable. Transfer students should provide transcripts from previous post-secondary institutions; credit for prior calculus or computer science coursework may be evaluated for placement within the programme.
