What you'll study

This programme combines engineering principles, applied laboratory work and regulatory context to give you the technical skills needed to manage and reduce environmental pollution. Typical modules cover air pollution control technologies, water and wastewater treatment processes, hazardous waste management, and environmental monitoring and instrumentation. You will also study process control and automation as they apply to treatment systems, environmental law and regulatory compliance, and pollution prevention and sustainability strategies.

Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, lab practicals, fieldwork and project-based learning. You will gain hands-on experience with monitoring equipment, sampling methods, and control systems. The degree normally culminates in a capstone design project or a research thesis that addresses a real-world control technology problem, supported by faculty supervision and, where possible, industry placements or partnerships.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a closely related technical discipline. Admissions consider academic performance, relevant laboratory or field experience, and evidence of numeracy and problem-solving ability.

Typical application materials include academic transcripts, a CV or résumé, a personal statement outlining your interests and goals, and at least one academic or professional reference. Where English is not the applicant’s first language, an approved English language qualification is required. Applicants with substantial relevant professional experience but from non-traditional academic backgrounds may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
