What you'll study

The programme provides a broad foundation across the biological, technical and commercial aspects of modern agriculture. Core modules typically cover soil science and nutrient management, crop production and plant health, animal science and nutrition, agricultural business and farm management, and agricultural machinery and systems.

• Fundamental sciences: biology, chemistry and ecology applied to agricultural systems.
• Soils and crops: soil fertility, crop physiology, pest and disease management, and sustainable production practices.
• Animal systems: basic livestock production, nutrition, breeding and animal health principles where relevant to your pathway.
• Agribusiness and management: farm planning, financial management, marketing, and agricultural policy.

Students normally choose electives or a specialism in areas such as crop science, livestock systems, agri‑business, conservation and environmental stewardship, or agricultural technology. The curriculum emphasises experiential learning: regular field days, supervised on‑farm experience and industry‑linked placements are integral.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a recognised secondary school qualification with passes in science and mathematics. Typical academic preparation includes courses in biology and chemistry and a strong grounding in mathematics; practical experience with farming, 4‑H/FFA or horticulture is advantageous. Where relevant, applicants whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate English proficiency through an approved test or equivalent.

Selection looks at academic record, motivation for a career in agriculture and any relevant hands‑on experience. Mature students with practical agricultural experience or vocational qualifications are encouraged to apply; the programme may accept equivalent college or vocational qualifications as entry routes.
