What you'll study

The programme integrates progressive Chinese language instruction with courses in Chinese literature, linguistics and cultural studies. Early modules emphasise spoken and written Mandarin, pronunciation, grammar and character literacy; later modules move into advanced reading, composition and oral proficiency. Entry requirements

Applicants are typically admitted to Illinois Wesleyan University as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree with the option to concentrate in Chinese linguistics and literature. General entry expectations include a completed secondary-school qualification or recognised equivalent, academic transcripts, and two academic references. Demonstrated academic strength in language, literature or humanities subjects at secondary level is advantageous. Students with prior Chinese study may be placed into higher-level language classes following placement testing.
