What you'll study

This programme provides a generalist social work curriculum integrating theory, practice and ethics. Core topics cover human behaviour and the social environment, social welfare policy, social work practice with individuals and groups, research methods, diversity and cultural competence, and ethics and professional development. Students take foundation liberal‑arts courses that strengthen critical thinking, communication and cultural awareness, alongside social work specific modules such as:

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Typical entry expectations include a competitive secondary school record and completion of general education subjects; coursework in psychology, sociology or human biology is helpful. Admissions commonly request a personal statement describing commitment to social justice and service, and may require one or more academic or character references.

Because field placements are an essential component, admitted students must be able to meet placement requirements such as background checks, basic health clearances or immunisations, and any facility‑specific onboarding. Transfer students with relevant community service or prior college coursework in related fields are considered, and prior credits may be applied toward degree requirements where appropriate.

Graduates are prepared for entry‑level social work roles across a range of public, nonprofit and private settings. Common first‑employment options include case worker or case manager positions in child welfare, family services, school social work support roles (often with additional certification), community outreach, healthcare support services, and roles within mental health or substance‑use agencies. Many students use the bachelor’s degree as preparation for graduate study in social work (Master of Social Work) to pursue clinical licensure or advanced practice roles.
