What you'll study

The Master of Project Management combines core project management theory with applied practice and research methods. The curriculum covers the project lifecycle, governance, risk and procurement, stakeholder engagement, contract management and financial control, together with leadership, change management and professional ethics. Students study quantitative and qualitative methods for project decision-making and are exposed to contemporary approaches such as Agile, digital project delivery and sustainability considerations in project design and execution.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with a satisfactory academic record. Applicants with substantial professional experience in project-related roles but without a relevant degree may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Prior study or experience in quantitative subjects, business or engineering is advantageous but not mandatory.

All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency through an approved test or evidence of prior study in English; the programme requires scores consistent with postgraduate study standards at UTS. Additional requirements may apply for international applicants, such as documented professional references or a statement of purpose outlining project experience and career objectives.

Graduates move into a broad range of project-focused roles across the private and public sectors. Typical job titles include project manager, senior project coordinator, programme manager, project controls analyst, PMO analyst/lead, contract manager and consultant.
