What you'll study

The programme combines modules in development finance, market and feasibility analysis, planning and regulation, design and placemaking, construction procurement and project management. Core topics typically include property development feasibility and appraisal, project finance and investment, urban design and place‑making, planning law and development approvals, construction procurement and contract management, and sustainability in the built environment.

Teaching mixes lectures, workshops and practice‑based studios. Students work on development briefs and industry case studies to prepare business cases and feasibility reports. A substantial capstone project or industry project requires students to apply technical analysis, financial modelling and stakeholder engagement to a real or simulated development proposal.

Entry requirements

• A recognised bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in property, construction, architecture, planning, engineering, business or a related discipline; applicants from other backgrounds with relevant professional experience are considered.
• Applicants are often expected to demonstrate quantitative skills, analytical ability and an understanding of the property or construction sector; professional work experience in property, construction or development is advantageous.
• International applicants must meet UTS English language requirements (for example, an accepted IELTS or TOEFL score) or have equivalent evidence of English proficiency.
• Entry may be on a standard coursework basis; in some cases, advanced standing or credit for prior learning may be granted where relevant accredited study or professional experience is demonstrated.
