What you'll study

The degree is structured to build practical and theoretical skills across three years: introductory modules in biological and archaeological fundamentals in the first year; intermediate thematic and method modules in the second year; and specialised options and an independent research project or dissertation in the final year. Practical training is emphasised through lab classes, skeletal reference collections, palaeopathology workshops, and opportunities for supervised fieldwork and post-excavation analysis. Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold qualifications equivalent to standard UK university entry. Typical applicants present A levels (or equivalent) including at least one science or quantitative subject such as biology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics; geography, archaeology or related subjects are also relevant. The University considers a range of qualifications including the International Baccalaureate, BTEC and recognised international school-leaving certificates. Applicants offering access or alternative qualifications should demonstrate strong grounding in scientific methods and academic study.

Work or volunteering experience in archaeological fieldwork, museums or laboratory settings is advantageous but not essential. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to meet the University's standard English-language proficiency requirements.
