What you'll study

The programme combines advanced nutrition science with applied clinical practice and population-level approaches to food and nutrition. Study areas typically include medical nutrition therapy across the lifespan, community and public health nutrition, food service management, professional practice and ethics, and research methods. Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, tutorials, case-based learning, simulated clinical skills sessions and extensive supervised professional placements in hospitals, community services and other workplace settings.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold an undergraduate degree in nutrition, food science, health science, biological sciences or a closely related discipline. Where prior study is not directly aligned, applicants may be required to demonstrate completion of prerequisite coursework in areas such as human physiology, biochemistry, anatomy and basic statistics or undertake bridging subjects.

Selection typically considers academic record, relevant work or volunteer experience in health or community settings, and a personal statement addressing motivation and suitability for practice-based training. International applicants must meet Curtin's English language requirements and provide certified academic transcripts. Successful applicants will also be required to meet professional suitability checks that may include background and health screening relevant to placement providers.
