What you'll study

This master’s emphasises a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of security in the contemporary international system. You will study theory and practice across areas such as strategic studies, conflict and peacebuilding, terrorism and counter‑terrorism, human security, cyber and information security, and arms control and non‑proliferation. Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree with a good academic record in a relevant discipline such as international relations, political science, law, defence studies or a related social science. Candidates with substantial professional experience in defence, security, intelligence, diplomacy, law enforcement or international organisations may also be considered.

All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Massey’s English language proficiency requirements. You will need to submit academic transcripts, a curriculum vitae, a personal statement outlining your reasons for study and, where required, referees' reports. A research proposal may be required if you intend to pursue a research‑led component or thesis.
