What you'll study

This master’s combines advanced coursework and a research component to prepare graduates to support and lead gifted education provision. The programme covers theory, identification and assessment, curriculum design, and educational counselling for gifted and twice‑exceptional learners.

• Core topics: concepts and theories of giftedness; social and emotional development of gifted learners; differentiation and curriculum compacting; creativity and talent development.
• Assessment and identification: psychometric and alternative assessment methods, screening and referral procedures, use of portfolios and performance tasks.
• Instructional design and pedagogy: acceleration, curriculum differentiation, enrichment models, STEM and arts approaches for high‑ability students, classroom management in heterogeneous settings.

Entry requirements

Applicants are typically expected to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field. Professional teaching experience is often preferred and can strengthen an application.

• Academic qualification: bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Candidates with a degree in a non‑education discipline may be considered if they demonstrate relevant professional experience or complete prerequisite coursework.
• Academic standing: a competitive cumulative grade point average or equivalent as assessed by the admissions committee.
• Supporting documents: transcripts, CV or résumé, a statement of purpose outlining interest in gifted education, and one or two professional references.
• Language proficiency: evidence of competence in the language of instruction where required (e.g. prior degree taught in that language or recognised language test scores).
• Interview or portfolio: some applicants may be asked to attend an interview or submit a teaching/assessment portfolio to demonstrate suitability for the programme.
