The Master of Project Management at Abu Dhabi University is a postgraduate programme designed to develop advanced technical, managerial and leadership skills for planning, delivering and controlling complex projects. It suits graduates and professionals from engineering, construction, IT, business and related fields who want to progress into senior project, programme or PMO roles across private and public sectors.

What you'll study

The programme combines core project management theory with practical tools and applied techniques used in industry. Typical modules cover project lifecycle and governance, project planning and scheduling, cost management and earned value, risk and quality management, procurement and contract management, project leadership and stakeholder management, and project controls. Students also study research methods and complete a major capstone project or dissertation that applies learned methods to a real-world problem.

  • Project Management Fundamentals: project governance, scope definition and life‑cycle models.
  • Planning, Scheduling and Controls: network analysis, critical path, resource levelling and earned value management.
  • Cost and Contract Management: budgeting, cost estimation, procurement strategies and contractual frameworks.
  • Risk and Quality Management: risk identification/quantification, mitigation planning and quality assurance techniques.
  • Leadership and Stakeholder Management: team leadership, communication, negotiation and change management in project contexts.
  • Agile and Contemporary Methods: adaptive project approaches, hybrid delivery and industry best practice standards (for example alignment with PMBOK and international bodies).
  • Research Methods and Capstone/Dissertation: research design, data analysis and an applied project that demonstrates mastery of project management principles.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor's degree in engineering, business, management, information technology or a related discipline. Candidates with degrees in other fields who can demonstrate relevant professional experience may also be considered. Many applicants have several years of work experience in project or operational roles; such experience is viewed favourably.

Applicants whose previous study was not in English must demonstrate proficiency in English through an approved test or equivalent evidence of prior tertiary instruction in English. The University may also require a copy of transcripts, a personal statement outlining motivation and experience, and references. In some cases an interview may be requested as part of the assessment process.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for a wide range of project‑focused careers across industries such as construction, oil & gas, utilities, transport, information technology, healthcare and professional services. Typical roles include:

  • Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
  • Programme Manager or Portfolio Analyst
  • Project Controls Specialist, Planner or Scheduler
  • Project Management Office (PMO) Lead
