What you'll study

The programme combines core biomedical science with practical clinical training. You study human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, pathology relevant to rehabilitation, and the principles of assessment and treatment across musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions. Teaching includes modules on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise prescription, electrotherapy, pain management, prosthetics and orthotics, paediatric and geriatric rehabilitation, and community and long-term care.

Courses place strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning and professional ethics. Practical laboratory classes develop palpation, movement analysis and therapeutic techniques, and a series of supervised clinical placements in external hospitals and rehabilitation centres gives progressive hands-on experience in assessment, treatment planning and interprofessional working.

Entry requirements

Admission normally requires a secondary school diploma or equivalent with a background in science subjects (biology, chemistry and mathematics are advantageous). As the bachelor programme is delivered in Italian, proficiency in Italian is required; international applicants will typically need to demonstrate language competence.

Because physiotherapy is a regulated health profession, places can be competitive and selection may consider curricular preparation, interviews or entrance assessments at institutional or regional level. Before clinical placements, students must meet professional and health requirements such as up-to-date vaccinations and any mandatory health screenings; a clean professional conduct record is generally expected.
