What you'll study

The Master in Finance combines core finance subjects with elective options and hands-on projects. Core topics typically include corporate finance, financial accounting, financial markets and institutions, derivatives, fixed income, portfolio management, valuation and M&A, risk management, and quantitative methods for finance (statistics, econometrics and financial modelling). Practical modules often cover Excel/VBA, programming for finance (Python or R), and case studies driven by real company data.

The programme structure usually mixes lectures, seminars, workshops and group assignments. Students may complete a practicum or capstone project and are encouraged to undertake internships or work placements facilitated by IESEG's career services. Elective courses allow specialisation in areas such as corporate finance and strategy, asset management, trading and market microstructure, sustainable finance, fintech and risk analytics.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as economics, business, finance, mathematics, engineering or comparable fields. Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated interest in finance are important. Application typically requires academic transcripts, a CV, a motivation letter or personal statement, and at least one academic or professional reference.

International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through recognised tests or approved equivalents, unless exempt. Some applicants choose to submit a GMAT or GRE score to strengthen their application, particularly if their academic background is not directly finance-related. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an interview (in person or online) as part of the selection process. Relevant internships or work experience can be advantageous but are not always mandatory.

Graduates go on to roles across investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, risk management, treasury, financial consulting and fintech. Typical job titles include financial analyst, M&A analyst, equity research analyst, risk analyst, portfolio manager, treasury analyst and consultant in financial services.
