A three-year, NAAB-accredited first professional Master of Architecture (M.Arch) designed for applicants holding a four-year undergraduate degree in any field. The 84-credit, STEM-certified track combines coordinated core instruction with advanced studio research and a distinctive integrative studio that links design with building systems and regulatory practice.

What you'll study

The curriculum emphasizes an integrative approach that combines design, history-theory, technology, and media courses in the first three semesters and culminates in a coordinated Integrative Studio in semester four. The Integrative Studio uniquely merges architectural design instruction with building systems and regulatory compliance and involves team-based projects supported by faculty and industry technical consultants. In the final two semesters students pursue advanced studio work, elective courses, and directed research projects with faculty and external professionals. Across scales from buildings to urban and ecological systems, the program foregrounds environmental stewardship, equity, and resilient design.

Entry requirements

The program is structured for students who hold a four-year undergraduate, nonprofessional degree in any field. Candidates with non-accredited undergraduate architecture degrees may be admitted to graduate professional degrees; Advanced Standing admission (56-credit track) is competitive and determined by the Architecture Department’s Admissions Committee and the Chair of Graduate Architecture and Urban Design.

Career prospects

The curriculum is intended to prepare graduates with the professional knowledge required for architectural practice, integrating technical, regulatory, and design competencies needed for further steps toward licensure where a NAAB-accredited degree is required by registration boards. Students develop skills applicable to professional practice, design research, and roles that engage building systems, environmental design, and collaborative project leadership.
