What you'll study

The programme covers advanced topics in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity alongside practical analytic and security techniques. Core subject areas explicitly referenced in the programme materials include AI, machine and deep learning, data analytics, business intelligence and computer security. Students follow the study plan of 11 courses that together make up 36 credit hours and then undertake the chosen completion option (applied project or research thesis).

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an institution recognised by the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Ministry of Education. The undergraduate degree should be in the same or a closely related field; otherwise the department will require approved remedial courses. A minimum bachelor GPA of not less than ‘Good’ (or equivalent) is required. Candidates with lower GPAs may be admitted conditionally if they have one year of relevant experience or may be assigned remedial courses. All applicants must pass an interview by the academic department and the University’s English placement test or submit a TOEFL score of 500 (or equivalent); those who fail the English requirement must take a mandatory remedial English course within the first year.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Tuition is calculated per credit hour; the published figures indicate 144.2 BD per credit hour and an estimated total tuition of 2,595.6 BD over the programme as presented. Tuition is payable each semester in three instalments. Partial scholarships noted in the programme materials include a 10% scholarship for new applicants for the first semester and a 20% special scholarship for Applied Science University graduates during their first academic year. Summer enrolment is optional and charged at the same per-credit rate with a separate registration fee if taken.
