Entry requirements

Admissions criteria stated by the university include:

  • Secondary school certificate (high school diploma) certified by Bahrain’s Ministry of Education or equivalent with a minimum average of 60%.
  • Applicants with a secondary average below 60% may be considered if they are classified as gifted/talented (e.g. notable athletes, artists, entrepreneurs) or have at least one year of relevant work experience post-secondary certificate.
  • Students from non-scientific secondary streams may be required to complete department-determined remedial courses.
  • Transfer students admitted per the university’s degree award regulations.
  • The University Council may consider applications with averages below 60%; admissions under the special clause (below-60% with exemptions) are limited to no more than 5% of admitted students.
  • All admitted students must sit a mandatory English placement test: scores 0–40 require enrolment in ENG 099; exemption from ENG 099 is allowed with IELTS ≥5.0 or TOEFL ≥450.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Tuition and scholarship details published by the university include an estimated per-credit fee of 92.7 BD and semester fees of 1,390.5 BD (annual total shown as 2,781 BD based on the study plan). Tuition is payable each semester in three instalments: at registration, before mid-terms and before finals. The summer term is optional; summer credit-hour fee is 92.7 BD with a maximum of 9 credits. The university offers partial Academic Excellence Scholarships for the first semester only: 30% for high school averages 95–100% and 15% for averages 90–94.9%.
