A two‑year professional master taught in French that trains applied geoscientists for operational roles in geotechnics, hydrogeology and mineral resources. Best suited to students aiming for engineering roles in industry, bureaux d’études, local authorities or for continuing to a PhD while gaining long periods of workplace experience.
The curriculum emphasizes practical and applied geoscience: geotechnics, hydrogéology and mineral resources. Students carry out fieldwork, laboratory investigations, case studies and numerical modelling; they learn to characterise soils and rocks, assess stability of structures and slopes, manage and protect groundwater, and engage with quarry and mining activities. The programme also covers natural and environmental risk analysis and prevention, strengthened English, mathematical and digital tools, and aspects of law, management and project practice relevant to geology engineering.
The training is delivered in alternance and structured over two academic years (M1 and M2). Administrative and alternance formalities are handled by SeFoC'Al; the programme supports mobility during M1 (Erasmus or other schemes). For enrolment procedures contact SeFoC'Al.
Graduates are prepared for roles in private companies, engineering consultancies, local authorities and public organisations. Typical functions include geotechnical engineer, hydrogeologist, resources/mining engineer, site investigation specialist and positions in risk assessment or environmental remediation. The course also equips students for research pathways including a doctorate.
The programme is primarily offered by apprenticeship/alternance: over 80% of recent cohorts were apprentices, which facilitates professional insertion and provides salaried workplace experience.
