Scholarship Value
The UTS provides financial support in the range of €3,000 to €22,000 for one academic year. Around 50 scholarships are available annually.
If you are enrolling in a two-year Master’s programme, you can apply for an additional scholarship to cover the second year. However, continuation of the scholarship into the second year depends on your academic performance.
Eligible Nationalities
This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities. (Non-EA/EUU Countries only).
Important Restrictions:
- The UTS is not open to Dutch nationals or current UT students.
- EU/EEA students are not eligible.
- The UTS does not apply to Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC).
- The UTS is not available for pre-Master’s programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS), you must meet the following requirements:
- Admission Letter: Obtain a (provisional) admission letter to a UT Master’s programme for the 2025/26 academic year.
- Student Number: Have a valid UT student number.
- English Proficiency: Meet the minimum English language requirements:IELTS: 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in speaking.
- TOEFL iBT: 90, with at least 20 in speaking.
- Academic Excellence: Be among the top 5 to 10 percent of your class.
- Non-Dutch Graduate: You should not have graduated from a previous programme at the University of Twente.
- Visa Requirement: Meet the entry visa conditions for the Netherlands (if applicable).
Please note:
- This scholarship is not available to students from the EU/EEA.
- Students from UT’s Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) are not eligible.
- The UTS does not cover pre-Master programmes.

If you are awarded the University of Twente Scholarship, you may also be eligible for the Kipaji Scholarship. This additional award supports UTS recipients who demonstrate exceptional potential. To apply, you need to express your interest in the Kipaji Scholarship within your UTS motivation letter.
Requirements for the second-year scholarship:
- An average grade of 7 (out of 10) at the end of the third quartile of the first year.
- Completion of at least 50% of European Credits (EC) by the same period.
