USA University of Mary Washington Undergraduate Science Fellowships Fall 2026
The University of Mary Washington (UMW) has officially opened its Fall 2026 undergraduate admissions on August 1, 2025. Students can apply through the Common Application or directly via the UMW admissions portal. Those who apply by the early decision (Nov. 1) or early action (Nov. 15) deadlines will be the first considered for the highly competitive Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program, a new fellowship that offers major funding and research opportunities for science students.

Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program – A Historic Opportunity
The Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program is funded by the largest gift in UMW history—over $36 million from Irene Piscopo Rodgers ’59, a trailblazing scientist in electron microscopy. This program supports 15 first-year undergraduate students annually, giving them access to research opportunities, faculty mentorship, and financial support.
The fellowship is open to both Virginia residents and out-of-state students, with strong focus on STEM fields such as:

In addition, Rodgers’ gift funds the Alvey Scholarships (full tuition, housing, meals, and fees for out-of-state students) and supports UMW’s Summer Science Institute.
