A four-year Bachelor of Science in Biology that emphasizes molecular, cellular, organismal and ecological perspectives and gives undergraduates hands-on research experience. It suits students aiming for research, health-professional pathways (medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy) or environmental and lab-based careers who want small class sizes and direct faculty mentorship.

What you'll study

Students study core subdisciplines across molecular biology, cell biology, organismal biology and ecology, with supporting topics such as genetics and biochemistry. Practical training focuses on current research equipment and methodologies, culminating in an original research project that students design, execute and present. Introductory classes and labs are capped at 24 students, and lectures and labs for a course are taught by the same professor.

Entry requirements

No previous degree is required. Applicants must submit official high school or GED transcripts; transfer students must provide official transcripts from prior institutions. Anderson University uses rolling admission but recommends applying by December 1 for best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1 to begin in the fall. The program is I-20 and I-17 approved for international students.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for graduate study and careers in research, medicine (including physician and physician assistant routes), dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacy, lab technology and management, wildlife biology, environmental consulting, industrial compliance, secondary or post-secondary teaching, and medical or pharmaceutical sales. Clinical internships and shadowing opportunities—such as placements at AnMed Medical Center—are available for students pursuing medical careers. Note that internship and job placement opportunities are not guaranteed.

Scholarships & funding angle

The program page references tuition, fees and scholarships/financial aid resources; applicants are encouraged to consult Anderson University's financial aid and scholarship information for opportunities. Employment outcomes and salary estimates depend on location, industry, and personal qualifications and therefore are not guaranteed by the university.
