What you'll study

The curriculum focuses on preaching-specific coursework alongside broader Christian studies. Students take three dedicated preaching courses that cover the exegetical process and sound hermeneutics, selecting and applying illustrations appropriately, and developing public speaking skills. The program highlights practical sermon preparation and delivery under experienced preaching faculty, several of whom hold doctoral degrees in preaching.

Entry requirements

No prior degree is required. Applicants must submit official high school or GED transcripts; transfer students must provide official transcripts from previous institutions. Anderson University uses rolling admission, but applicants are encouraged to apply by December 1 for best scholarship consideration and no later than July 1 to begin in the fall semester. The program is I-20 approved (for international students) and offers fall (August) and spring (January) start dates.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to preach effectively in congregational settings and to serve in ministry roles such as pastor, hospital chaplain, or campus pastor. The program’s emphasis on sermoncraft and public speaking targets vocations that require strong expository and pastoral communication skills.
