Programme overview

WSU Vancouver’s Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs is a 120-credit undergraduate degree designed to prepare students for careers in public service and governance. The curriculum centers on policy, law, administration and leadership and emphasizes evidence-based reasoning, ethics, and engaged practice. Students choose one of five program tracks and gain applied experience through internships, research and public-facing activities.

What you'll study

Coursework examines how decisions are made and how to influence them across local to national arenas. Core topics and questions include:

• Public policy analysis and evidence-based reasoning
• Law, legal systems and pre-law preparation (where applicable)
• Public administration: management, budgeting and leadership in government and nonprofits
• Justice, equity and the role of institutions in promoting accountability
• Environmental politics, governance and international affairs
• Research methods and development of written and oral communication skills
• Applied learning through internships and faculty-led public events

Students tailor study via five tracks: Justice Studies; Public Administration; Political Science (general); Political Science (global); and Political Science (pre-law).
