What you'll study

The dual-degree route leads to MCW’s MPH curriculum; specific module lists are provided by MCW. At WLC students must complete prerequisite coursework in biology, statistics, and writing with acceptable grades to qualify for direct admission and dual-enrollment. The program emphasizes public-health education, research, community-academic collaboration, and leadership to advance population health and equity.

Entry requirements

• Earn a grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses in biology, statistics, and writing.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 at WLC.
• Enroll full-time (12 or more credit hours) each semester at WLC and complete requirements within three years of initial enrollment at WLC unless an exception is agreed in writing.
• Meet all MCW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences minimum admission requirements.
• By April 1 of junior year at WLC, file an application with MCW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences including a personal statement, at least three faculty letters of support, and official transcripts.
• Participate in a pre-matriculation interview with an MCW representative and receive an admission decision from MCW.
• Pay the Graduate School deposit by June 1 of the year of matriculation.
• Maintain appropriate citizenship or lawful permanent residency and comply with applicable laws and MCW institutional and Graduate School policies.

The MPH prepares graduates for a broad range of public-health roles. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects faster-than-average 12% job growth for health education specialists and community health workers between 2021–2031. Common career pathways for MPH holders include epidemiologist, health educator, and community health worker, among other roles in public-health practice, policy, research, and program management.

Students should consult WLC and MCW financial-aid offices for available scholarships, assistantships, and funding options. Because the dual route can shorten the time to an MPH, it may reduce total tuition and living costs compared with separate sequential degrees; prospective applicants should evaluate aid packages at both institutions when planning finances.
