Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Full‑time MSc students are entitled to a monthly fellowship for up to 24 months. The regular Weizmann MSc fellowship is NIS 7,000 per month. An incentive fellowship paid at NIS 8,400 per month (120% of the regular fellowship) is awarded when a student holds a competitive external fellowship whose monthly value is below that incentive level.

• Substitution: External fellowships—competitive or non‑competitive—either replace the regular Weizmann fellowship or fund part of it; they do not stack with a WIS fellowship.
• External vs WIS fellowship: If an external fellowship exceeds the regular WIS amount, the student may retain the balance (within institutional limits). If the external award is lower than the regular WIS fellowship, the School will pay the difference up to 120% of the regular fellowship.
• Termination: Fellowship payments stop immediately upon completion of studies, upon employment or receipt of a fellowship from another institution, or after the maximum period of support. Normally support is for two academic years; in exceptional cases the Dean may approve up to a three‑month extension (total up to 27 months) for postponed thesis submission, maternity leave, reserve military duty or prolonged illness.
