Programme overview

This is an institutional double degree that integrates the Grado en Ingeniería de Materiales and the Grado en Ingeniería Mecánica into a single curriculum. The programme runs 5.5 courses (11 semesters), comprises 346.5 ECTS and is organised with specific annual credit loads: 60 ECTS in each of the first two years, 64.5 ECTS in the third year, 66 ECTS in the fourth and fifth years, and 30 ECTS in the final half‑year. Administration (enrolment, credit recognition, certificates, degree documentation and records) is managed by the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Zamora.

What you'll study

The study load totals 346.5 ECTS broken down by type: 60 ECTS of basic training (Formación Básica), 256.5 ECTS of compulsory subjects (Obligatorias), 6 ECTS of optional subjects (Optativas) and 24 ECTS for final degree projects (Trabajos Fin de Grado). Students attend the teaching groups of the originating degree for each subject; practical groups follow the organisation of the source degree and are assigned to one compatible practical group when multiple groups exist.

Entry requirements

The programme requires full‑time dedication. Note that for the academic year 2026–27 no new intake places are offered for this double degree. Students who undertake international exchange must link mobility to one of the two constituent degrees; that choice determines the academic year, subjects and credits that may be recognised on return. The double degree was implemented following USAL governance and has a fixed annual number of places (20).

Career prospects

Through the Mechanical Engineering component this double degree provides the qualification enabling the regulated profession of Ingeniero Técnico Industrial under the referenced national regulation. Graduates combine competencies from materials and mechanical engineering, preparing them for technical roles that require knowledge of materials behaviour and mechanical design and manufacturing.
