What you'll study

Study begins with three 20-credit modules (one compulsory, two optional) designed to introduce medieval studies as a discipline. You then take a further three 20-credit modules (two compulsory, one optional) before completing a 60-credit dissertation as a directed independent research project guided by academic staff. The programme is flexible and interdisciplinary: you may select modules from other specialist MAs within the School of Culture and Communication. Optional elements include a History and Heritage study trip. A designated module can include a 100-hour work placement with a heritage organisation or project, accompanied by seminars, tutorials and an extended reflective essay.

Career prospects

The MA develops transferable skills in independent critical thinking, analysis, synthesis of large bodies of information, and written and verbal communication.
