What you'll study

Students take 120 credits per year. Core non-language first-year modules include Languages of the World, Open Screen Cultures, The Art of Storytelling and Humanities Toolkit (each 15 credits). Language study is compulsory from year one: you choose 30 credits from a wide range of languages such as Arabic (various levels and dialect options), Persian, Turkish, Hebrew, Swahili, Somali, Hausa, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Sanskrit, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Burmese, and Thai. Year two includes compulsory modules Film Cities and Applied Humanities and allows up to 30 credits of continued language study. The programme offers indicative module options across film, literature and cultural studies and the final year includes an independent Study Project.
