See the degree grade →A 30-credit professional master’s focused on advanced accounting topics and applied research methods. Suited to students with an undergraduate accounting degree (or equivalent accounting credit), it emphasizes hands-on practice, ethics from a Christian worldview, and quantitative and qualitative techniques used in accounting practice and scholarship.
The 30 credit hours are split between accounting-specific courses and broader business studies: 18 hours (six courses) in accounting foundation studies and 12 hours (four courses) in related business topics. Students who have only 24 hours of undergraduate accounting must take an additional leveling course (0–3 hours) as described below.
Program learning outcomes include ethical professional behavior informed by Christian perspectives; mastery and ethical application of a diverse accounting knowledge base; information literacy and research skills; use of quantitative and qualitative methods to organize information; reasoned conclusion development; effective oral, written and interpersonal communication; and awareness of individual and societal impact conveyed with compassion and respect for diverse worldviews and cultures.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and either an undergraduate degree in accounting or completion of 30 undergraduate accounting hours. Students with only 24 undergraduate accounting hours are required to take ACCT-5003 (Issues in Advanced Accounting Concepts), which is offered only in the summer term.
The curriculum prepares graduates for advanced roles in accounting practice, audit, tax, financial reporting, and accounting research or for further academic study. The program’s emphasis on applied techniques, ethics, and communication supports careers in public accounting firms, corporate finance and accounting departments, regulatory bodies, and consultancies.
Funding options typically include university scholarships, assistantships, employer tuition reimbursement, and external fellowships or grants. Prospective students should contact the university’s financial aid office for up-to-date information on available awards and application steps.
