What you'll study

The program is 54 credit hours delivered across 20 courses, with terms running eight weeks. Course work covers foundational and advanced topics in psychological science and research methods; specific graduate-division courses include areas such as research, ethics and scholarly writing, theories of learning, cognitive science, behavioral neuroscience, health psychology, developmental psychology and program evaluation. Students progress from core theory to advanced research design and dissertation work. Up to 18 credits of transfer credit may be accepted; time-to-degree is estimated at 20–40 months depending on transfer credit and other factors.

Entry requirements

There are two admission paths. Path One: applicants who hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution. Path Two: applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related behavioral science from an accredited institution with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0; those entering with a baccalaureate must complete an additional 12 graduate semester hours of coursework, including a master’s capstone. Career prospects

The program targets students aiming for careers in research, academia, program evaluation, policymaking, healthcare organizations and community agencies. Graduates are prepared to act as researchers, behavioral scientists, program evaluators, consultants or academic faculty who contribute original findings to the psychology literature and inform practice and policy.
