A 12-credit, four-course online certificate focused on applying Scripture to pastoral care and counseling. Suited to degree-holders who want practical, biblically grounded counseling skills for church, ministry or missions settings and who may later pursue the MTS in Biblical Counseling.
This fully online graduate certificate requires four 3-credit courses (12 credit hours) and is built on a biblical worldview. Courses are offered in accelerated seven-week formats with 1- and 2-year completion options. The curriculum emphasizes applying Scripture to personal and family struggles so students can minister God’s Word in real-life contexts.
The certificate is open to applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field. The first step is to submit an application for admission through Cedarville’s graduate admissions process.
Graduates are prepared to provide biblically faithful counseling to individuals, couples, and families within churches, ministries, or missions contexts and to help foster a church-wide culture of care. The program is intended as rigorous theological training for ministry use; it is not designed to satisfy state mental health licensure requirements but can serve as preparation for biblical counseling certification paths.
Cedarville describes its online ministry programs as competitively priced and states financial aid is available. Multiple start dates are offered year-round, and the certificate also serves as one-third of the 36-hour MTS in Biblical Counseling for students who wish to continue into the master’s program.
