Programme overview

The Graduate Certificate in Leadership is a 72‑point award delivered by Australian Lutheran College in partnership with the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology (UCLT). It runs for six months full‑time or up to two years part‑time, and is available to domestic students only. The course emphasises leadership theory and practice, including self‑awareness, communication, theological reflection and research, with particular involvement in leadership preparation for Lutheran schools and early childhood services.

What you'll study

The program comprises two 12‑point core units and 48 points of electives (total 72 points). Core units delivered by UCLT are:

• LE8801Z Self‑Leadership
• LE8802Z Leading Others

Electives make up 48 points. Students using the award for Lutheran school leadership accreditation follow ALC‑specified electives as directed by Lutheran Education Australia; other students may select electives offered by other University of Divinity colleges. Example education electives referenced by the provider include DE9016L Education and Theology in Dialogue and DE9035L Ethics, Values and Decision Making for Educators (or equivalent). Entry requirements

Applicants need either a completed undergraduate degree (or approved equivalent) or a minimum of five years relevant work experience or professional attainment recognised by the Academic Board. Where English is not the first language, University of Divinity English proficiency rules apply. ALC also implements credit transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL) according to its Credit Policy.
