What you'll study

The curriculum combines biblical languages, exegesis, theological reflection, and hands-on pastoral training. Course examples and topics cited by the programme include:

• Leadership in the Local Church — servant leadership, mentoring, visionary leadership, and leading change.
• Spiritual Formation — biblical and personal foundations of sanctification and growth.
• Theological Foundations of Counseling — Scriptural principles and a biblical theory of personality.
• Principles & Practice of Prayer — study of prayer as a means of God’s leading and strengthening of servants.
• Advanced Systematic Theology — exploration of tensions and issues within a theological system built on orthodox foundations.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) from a recognized institution. Graduates of Bible colleges, liberal arts, and state colleges are encouraged to apply. Those with a GPA below 2.5 or degrees from non-accredited institutions may be admitted on academic restriction. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree may be eligible if they meet specified ministry experience and research/writing requirements; prospective applicants are advised to contact Seminary Admissions for details (gtsrec@grace.edu or 877.607.0012). Admission materials include official transcripts and one spiritual life reference; unofficial transcripts are acceptable for initial review if degree work is in progress and an official transcript is required upon completion. International applicants must supply TESOL test scores where required and a financial certificate demonstrating sufficient funding.

Career prospects

The programme prepares graduates for a range of ministry roles where theological competence and administrative leadership are needed. Typical outcomes named by the seminary include Lead Pastor, Denominational Leadership, Parachurch Administrator, Executive Pastor, Teaching Pastor, and Church Elder. Depending on local context, pastors trained by the M.Div. often function as preachers, teachers, counselors, evangelists, administrators, and shepherds.
