Applicants must hold a baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA, verified by official transcripts. Candidates should have an undergraduate major or minor in English/Language Arts or be state certified to teach English/Language Arts. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 is required (with at least 30 hours completed at that institution). Applicants also need a valid state teaching license or equivalent certificate (not necessarily current) or an official letter confirming employment as a teacher of record, at least one year of approved P–12 teaching experience, and documentation demonstrating access to a P–12 classroom. Note: the degree does not lead to initial or advanced state licensure in English/Language Arts.
Graduates commonly pursue roles such as P–12 English/Language Arts teachers qualified to teach dual-enrollment or AP courses, adjunct community-college English instructors, education service agency specialists, or positions using English and pedagogical expertise in various industries.
Financial aid options include grants, loans, scholarships, veterans’ benefits and employer reimbursement. The programme lists tuition at $525 per credit hour; applicable fees and costs for prerequisites or electives may be additional.
