What you'll study

During the first year Exploratory students are encouraged to take courses across disciplines that both introduce subject areas and satisfy General Education requirements, so exploration occurs alongside measurable progress toward graduation. The one-credit COLL 200 course—offered each semester through the Career Center—is designed specifically to help Exploratory students investigate majors and career paths.

Entry requirements

Students may enter Marietta College either by declaring a specific major at admission or by enrolling as Exploratory with interest areas. There is no requirement to declare a major as a freshman; declaration must occur by the second semester of the sophomore year. Students who enter with a declared major commonly change it within their first year.

Career prospects

The Exploratory pathway is intended to help students identify an appropriate major and related career trajectory rather than to prepare for a single occupation. By combining introductory disciplinary courses with General Education credit and career exploration activities, the programme supports informed major selection and steady progress toward graduation.
